Moshi Carbon

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Moshi Carbon ?

A Moshi Carbon bag is an air purifier that contains activated bamboo charcoal. Select bamboo plants are processed into charcoal and activated by heating it to 900 degrees Celsius. This extensive process allows the carbon to form micropores that adsorb odors, toxins, and harmful chemicals in the air. Additionally, the specially designed breathable bags allows effective air filtration and toxin adsorption. Simply choose a strategic place for the bags for best coverage.

How does it work as an air purifier?

Moshi Carbon purifies air by containing odors, toxins, and other pollutants in its pores through adsorption. Adsorption is the adhesion of atoms, ions, and/or molecules from gas, liquids, or dissolved solids to a surface. The rate of adsorption increases as the surface area of adsorption increases. With the activation process used for Moshi Carbon, the micropores that form increase the surface area of the activated carbon. One gram of activated carbon has a surface area greater than 3,000 m2, this large surface area contributes to the efficacy of its adsorption properties.

How do I use Moshi Carbon?

The product is ready to use as soon as it is taken out of its plastic packaging. Place the Moshi Carbon bags wherever you want to eliminate odors and detoxify the air. Refresh the Moshi Carbon bags at least once every 30 to 45 days for a minimum of 2 hours under direct sunlight. This procedure cleanses the Moshi Carbon bags of adsorbed toxins with UV rays, making them ready to use again. The product can be used effectively up to 2 years.

What is the most effective way to use Moshi Carbon?

The product works best when placed in an area where air circulation is good because it is important for the product to be able to breathe. It is recommended to use at least one bag per room, cabinet, box, refrigerator, car, and the like.

How does Moshi Carbon differ from conventional air fresheners?

Air fresheners emit harmful chemicals into the environment as opposed to Moshi Carbon that is made of natural ingredients. Moshi Carbon also lasts longer and can help you save money because it doesn’t need to be replaced as often as air fresheners.

If my bag gets wet or damp, is it ruined?

No, the product is still fine to use after getting wet. However, it is best to avoid getting it wet, and if it does get wet, simply keep it under the sun for as long as it needs to dry in order for you to use it effectively again. When used in the bathroom, or places that may get it wet, simply place it farthest from the source of dampness or hang it up instead.

I live in a relatively gloomy area where there isn’t much sun, how do I refresh Moshi Carbon?

Moshi Carbon isn’t refreshed by heat, rather it is cleansed by UV rays which is still present even during cooler days, simply make sure to make it stay out longer than is needed instead.

Can Moshi Carbon be put in a heated oven instead?

No, because heat is not what cleanses the pores of the charcoal, rather it is the UV rays emitted by the sun. It would be best to not attempt to place Moshi Carbon in a heated oven.

Why is bamboo charcoal better to use than regular charcoal?

The use of bamboo charcoal is more effective because bamboo is more porous than the typical wood used for regular charcoal, meaning to say that less bamboo charcoal is needed than regular charcoal for the same amount of adsorption done. Additionally, the use of bamboo charcoal is more sustainable because it takes a shorter amount of time for bamboo to mature (about 5 years) than it is for trees to mature enough to be cut down.

Why does Moshi Carbon only last 2 years?

When placed under the sun, some toxins are cleansed from the pores of the product. However, some residue may still be left behind and this eventually leads the toxins to build up and fill up the pores of the product.

Is there a way to recycle the bamboo charcoal after 2 years of its usage as an air purifier?

Yes, the contents can be taken out of the bag and be used as fertilizer in soil.

Can Moshi Carbon help with allergies?

There are no medicinal claims made for Moshi Carbon. However, it may be able to aid some asthma and allergy-prone persons by filtering the air around them thus minimizing impurities and toxins that could otherwise trigger asthma and/or allergies.
